Microsoft Office to Star Office

Many people have the new Microsoft Office 2007. At school we have Star Office. Star office is compatible with older Microsoft Office versions, but not the new one. This is because Microsoft Office 2007 uses a different file format. Instead of the regular .doc files and .ppt files, MS Office 07 uses .docx file and .pptx files. Fortunately, you can save your files in the old format.

Microsoft Word

When saving your file, hit the Office Button in the Top Left hand corner and go down and mouse over “Save As”.

Next Click “Word 97-2003 Document”. This ensures your document will be compatible with older versions of Office.

Make sure when you are saving that the bottom box says “Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc)”.

Now you have saved your file to work with Star office.

Microsoft PowerPoint

The process is basically the same. Just make sure your file is in the (*.ppt) format!

Warning! Check to make sure your power point hasn’t changed anything after you save!
